This webinar is to increase stakeholder understanding of the importance of official controls and strict compliance verification of GI products, before they enter the market. As the Indonesia aims at increasing exports and improve export quality, Geographical Indications (GI) products provide are strategic for penetrating high-end market niches. Indonesia has incorporated a control system within the GI legal framework, but procedures and competencies must be updated to meet international standards and deliver traceable and authentic products to consumers.

The webinar is hosted by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP – the Ministry of Law and Human Rights), and the Directorate General for National Export Development (DGNED - the Ministry of Trade).

The aim of this workshop is to facilitate business linkages between GI producers and potential domestic buyers and consumers. The involvement of retail businesses such as supermarkets in playing a more important role in promoting and selling the GI products will be explored. The workshop will be led by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

This preparatory meeting is part of the GI Creative Branding Workshop (CBW) Series. The purpose is to brief the core members of MPIGs (Geographical Indications Protection Society) on preparatory needs for the GI Product Placement and Brand Engagement workshop scheduled on September 15, 2020. The meeting will be led by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
